TITLE: COUNTERFEIT CASH FOUND ON MAN WITH FICTITIOUS PLATES
On Sunday, July 25, at approximately 8:25 pm, Patrolman Sean Ross stopped a vehicle operated by Maurice Pierce, age 31, of Brooklyn, NY on Center Street for displaying fictitious license plates. During the stop, Ptl. Ross learned that Mr. Pierce had a $500.xx motor vehicle warrant for his arrest out of Readington Township for a prior Driving While Suspended charge. When he was unable to post the necessary bail, Mr. Pierce was arrested and transported to the Hunterdon County Jail. Upon arriving at the Hunterdon County Jail, Ptl. Ross removed Mr. Pierce from the patrol vehicle in order to walk him from the sallyport into the jail. At this time, Ptl. Ross discovered three counterfeit $50.00 bills at Mr. Pierce’s feet. Mr. Pierce denied that the counterfeit money was his. Ptl. Ross secured a copy of the Hunterdon County Jail’s sallyport security video and logged it as evidence. The matter has been turned over to the United States Secret Service Counterfeit Money Division.
