TITLE: MAN THREATENS SUICIDE IN CL TWP HOLDING CELL
On Saturday, August 28, at
approximately 9:30 pm, Patrolman Jeffery Glennon stopped a vehicle operated by
Michael Bolton, age 45, of East Stroudsburg, PA on Route 31 South near Molasses
Hill Road for speeding. During the stop, Ptl. Glennon detected the odor of an
alcoholic beverage on Mr. Bolton’s breath and soon determined that he was
intoxicated. Mr. Bolton was arrested and transported to police headquarters
where he provided samples of his breath for chemical testing to determine the
content of alcohol in his blood. Ptl. Glennon charged Mr. Bolton with Driving
While Intoxicated and Speeding. During processing, Mr. Bolton repeatedly
threatened to stab or otherwise kill himself. He then began punching himself in
the head with closed fists and slamming his head into the holding cell wall.
Ptl. Glennon and Patrolman Michael Akers had to restrain Mr. Bolton until the
Clinton Rescue Squad could respond and strap him to a stretcher. He was
transported to the Hunterdon Medical Center for evaluation.
