HARKERS HOLLOW has opened its golfing doors to the public. While in a state of bankruptcy the course lay dormant for some time and suffered some damage to the grass. THE HC NEWS went to review the course three weeks ago and then went back on Friday, the immediate changes were incredible. The groundskeeper is working long hours and it shows. The course is rising back to the level that made it one of the finer private clubs in this area and you can play it now for rates that are so reasonable that if you are a golfer and are playing anywhere else in the area you are missing a treat.
During this week we will have feature articles on the ongoing progress the club is making. You can book tee times on line by going to http://harkershollow.com/index.html and you can check out the daily fee rates here - http://harkershollow.com/rates.html
Enjoy the experience, you will thank us when you’re finished with the round.
The Grill Room, bar and dining area have also been refurbished and are a nice place to finish off your afternoon.

To have any chance at all on 1 you have to keep your tee shot to the left or be
blocked out by the trees.
Looking back toward one tee you can see the sturdy line of trees protecting that
side
The green slopes back to front and left to right, a somewhat false front will
gobble chip shots that lack the proper steam

The
fairway slopes right to left, if you can hug the right tree line in the air you
will get a favorable bounce to the middle.
As you
can see this green has sever slope back to front. If the pin is in the back give
it a good rap to get it back there

The last hole before the ascent begins up the mountain. Hit the fairway and you
will have a great chance at a low number

Up up and away, out of bounds left, a creek runs though, this is a tough tee
shot for the high handicapper. Have faith and let it fly.
The Greenside View looking back to the tee, you need three good ones to
get here.
Side view of the long narrow green.Pin position is key for your third shot club
choice.

Great par three, oft affected by the direction of the wind. Even though its
downhill you may want to play an extra club if the wind is swirling right
to left.

The first of three par fours that go up and down the mountain. There is a a hump
running through the fairway, if you clear it and get eh extra run out you go for
the green. If you do not make it over you must respect the creek that runs
through as it will require about a 190 carry to clear the water. That little
creek has grabbed a lot of balls over the years.
Right in front of the green is an abrupt slope, so you can not bounce the ball
up onto the green unless you get very lucky. When these greens get rolling above
ten you will have to keep the ball below the hole or you can four putt in an
instant.
