HARKERS HOLLOW has opened its golfing doors to the public. While in a state of bankruptcy the course lay dormant for some time and suffered some damage to the grass. THE HC NEWS went to review the course three weeks ago and then went back on Friday, the immediate changes were incredible. The groundskeeper is working long hours and it shows. The course is rising back to the level that made it one of the finer private clubs in this area and you can play it now for rates that are so reasonable that if you are a golfer and are playing anywhere else in the area you are missing a treat.
During this week we will have feature articles on the ongoing progress the club is making. You can book tee times on line by going to http://harkershollow.com/index.html and you can check out the daily fee rates here - http://harkershollow.com/rates.html
Enjoy the experience, you will thank us when you’re finished with the round.
The Grill Room, bar and dining area have also been refurbished and are a nice place to finish off your afternoon.

This is the biggest fairway on the course, Grip and Rip
You second shot will have the ball below your feet, prompting it to drift right,
which is dead in the trap. If you can hit this hillside on the right it will
dump the ball onto the putting surface.. But if you fly this hill good luck
holding the green.

The left edge of the tree on the right is your optimum goal. This fairway
sloes drastically right to left. It's a tough shot to keep in the middle.

Out of the shoot you try and hug the left side but watch out for that jutting
tree. Pull it and you're OB. Slice it and you can drift down to the next
fairway.
This
view should give you an indication how far up you go from the clubhouse. Pay
close attention to the slope on this green, its' anti intuitive.

The Final three are great match play holes if you are settling a wager. This par
three plays about 195 and has an intimidating visual aspect. Short is better
than all of the other alternatives.
Side
view of the green from 85 yards.
Looking back toward the tee

Tee shot needs to be out on the left, the trees on the right can severely hamper
your second shot, but..... there is OB left.
back up the hill, you can see that tree on the corner of the dog on the left
that you have to keep your tee ball away from.
The green is sloped back to front so be daring and give it a good rap up the
hill. It will break left to right.

Touch Tee Shot. OB LEFT - the highway, on the right is a pond and drifting to
the right is that creek one more time. To be safe hit it left of the bridge on
the right.
You will most likely have about 200 yards to the green. There is a bunker on the
right that you want to avoid, its deep, long has tough rough. it's an excellent
finishing hole. The Grill Room is directly on your right when you finish.
