A young friend of mine, on one of the several snow days in the last month, had me watching a marathon of the show cake boss, a reality tv series taking place in Hoboken that is based upon a bakery and their adventures making unusual cakes.

The show is fun and the main character very captivating. We watched them make cakes for Raritan Valley College – a huge solar system cake, for Nascar, a life sized car cake and for the local golf event at liberty park, a golf hole. Its all very fun and we can recommend a look at it if you are into this sort of thing.

Then they have the bakery in Hoboken that is getting a good deal of attention as the host spot of the show. The young lady in question had the opportunity to be at the big east tourney earlier this week and strongly suggested, which means begged, that we go to the bakery.

This part is not so great as you do not get a glimpse of the inner working of the place like you do on tv and as a result you simply find yourself in a bakery, not that exciting. Luckily its not far out of the way for the path trains and parking garages so the detour wasn’t bad. If however you were thinking of making a trip just to see it, well I’m not so sure that’s a very exciting proposition.

And as an aside, the cakes are pricey, very pricey, another reason to perhaps plan something else for a day on the town.
