TITLE: INTEREST FREE LOANS AVAILABLE TO HUNTERDON COUNTY RESIDENTS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS
 

The Hunterdon County Board of Agriculture administers the Clifford E. Melda C. Snyder Scholarship Loan Fund. Mrs. Snyder was a teacher and her husband was a farmer and leader in the agricultural community for many years. Mrs. Snyder continued the family interest in agricultural until her death in 1987. The loan was established under the terms of her will to make interest free loans to students pursuing careers in agriculture and related fields such as agricultural research, food science and veterinary medicine. The minimum loan is $2,000 per year. There is no set maximum loan amount. 

Applicants must be high school graduates who reside in Hunterdon County for at least five years immediatley prior to graduation. Recipients may be enrolled in a two or four year college or a vocational/technical institute anywhere in or outside the United States.

The Hunterdon County Board of Agriculture accepts applications and makes the loan award. Since 1998 the Board has awarded $380,500 to forty-five students. The Bank of America Trust Department administers the Fund. Loan repayment begins after students have completed their course of study.

Applications are due by April 20, 2010 to be considered for loans for the school year beginning September, 2010.
