Last March, the Committee held its first Annual Women in
Government Celebration Day honoring the contributions of women
in public service. This successful event was attended by over
200 women, representing elected, appointed and government
officials, from throughout the State. Former Governor Christine
Todd Whitman, our guest speaker, gave an inspirational
presentation on capacity building and the importance of women
becoming engaged in government at all levels. In addition,
special Leadership awards were presented to elected and
professional women who have excelled in public service.
This year we will hear from representatives of the Executive,
Legislative and Criminal Justice branches on their insights and
their leadership roles in dealing with the demands of shaping
New Jersey’s future in these challenging times.
