TITLE: OUR DARWIN AWARD WINNER OF THE WEEK - MAN DRINKS BLOOD AND RUSHES TO HOSPITAL - do not pass go

On Wednesday, January 27, at approximately 11:40 pm, Hunterdon County Communications broadcast a radio alert to area police to be on the lookout for a green vehicle heading to the Hunterdon Medical Center due to a drug overdose.  Patrolman Michael Akers soon observed a small green vehicle traveling Route 31 South near County Club Drive.  When he began following the vehicle, the driver activated the vehicle’s four-way hazard lights.  Ptl. Akers stopped the vehicle on Route 31 South near Regional Road.  During the stop, passenger Eugene Yuditsky, age 22, of Asbury, advised Ptl. Akers that he had to get to the hospital because he just drank someone else’s blood.  When Ptl. Akers asked driver Dana Kuehner, age 20, of Asbury, why they were enroute to the hospital, Mr. Yuditsky interrupted and began to shout that they were enroute to the hospital because he drank someone else’s blood.  Mr. Yuditsky continued to act in an agitated manner throughout.  The Clinton Rescue Squad responded and examined Mr. Yuditsky, who refused medical treatment.

Backup officer David Formalarie soon observed several small waxpaper bags containing CDS residue in the driver’s door handle pocket.  When officers requested that Mr. Yuditsky exit the vehicle, he locked his door and began to roll his window up.  Ptl. Akers was able to unlock the door and remove Mr. Yuditsky from the vehicle.  Mr. Yuditsky then began to struggle with officers and was arrested.  Ms. Kuehner was arrested as well.

A search of the vehicle produced several hypodermic syringes.  Mr. Yuditsky was charged with Possession of Heroin, Being Under the Influence of Heroin, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice, and Prescription Drugs Not in Original Container.  He was later transported to the Hunterdon County Jail in default of $5,000.xx bail.  He was also found to have two (2) motor vehicle warrants for his arrest totaling approximately $750.xx.  Ms. Kuehner was charged with Possession of Heroin, Being Under the Influence of Heroin, Possession of Saboxone, Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe, Prescription Drugs Not in Original Container, and Operating a Motor Vehicle While In Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.  She was released ROR.
