TITLE: SPEED LEADS TO DUI
On Monday, February 1, at approximately 10:00 pm, Patrolman Umair Latif stopped a vehicle operated by Kurtis Weber, age 42, of Califon, on Route 22 East near Main Street for speeding and failing to maintain lane. During the stop, Ptl. Latif detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Mr. Weber’s breath and soon determined that he was intoxicated. Mr. Weber was arrested and subsequently provided samples of his breath for chemical testing to determine the content of alcohol in his blood. Ptl. Latif charged Mr. Weber with Driving While Intoxicated, Speeding, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure To Exhibit Valid Documents. He was released to the custody of a family member and his vehicle was towed and impounded.
