TITLE: HUNTERDON COUNTY ESC School Business Administrator honored for “Above and Beyond” Recognition (PIC)

Corinne Steinmetz, School Business Administrator of the Hunterdon County Educational Services Commission was recently honored at the February 2nd, 2010 ESC Board of  Directors meeting on behalf of the Hunterdon Warren Association of School Business Officers for the distinguished award  entitled “Above and Beyond.”

Ms. Steinmetz is a school business administrator that was recognized because Dennis Cox, School Superintendent felt that she demonstrates an ability to go above and beyond her job responsibilities on a daily basis.   This award recognizes the outstanding contribution of a school business administrator and Ms. Steinmetz does this routinely in her professional responsibilities.

In addition to her business administrator job, Ms. Steinmetz is also an active member of her local community as a Cheerleading Coach and is on the Board of Directors for the Lopatcong Athletic Association.   She also sits on the Hunterdon-Warren ASBO Board and is involved in the ERIC-WEST Insurance Group as an advisory member.

She is always receptive to students and parents and seeks ways to be more helpful to the ESC staff.  She attends Back to School Nights, Parent activities, school-wide festivals and all staff in-service days.  However, Ms. Steinmetz has gone above and beyond and deserves recognition for specifically her activities during December 2009.  Ms. Steinmetz worked with a group of students to fundraise for the Hunterdon County Teen Arts Program.  Ms. Steinmetz and a group of several special education and alternative high school students spent two days at the local Border’s in Flemington, NJ gift-wrapping during the holiday season.

She worked with students on social skill behaviors such as greeting people appropriately, reinforced positive interactions with customers, and assisted students with understanding their social responsibilities in a community setting.  Along with these activities, Ms. Steinmetz modeled to students both the spirit of volunteering and making an impact on an organization that could not survive without fundraising efforts.

This genuine assistance for a program that helps to support all students in Hunterdon County helped to raise around $200.00 for the Teen Arts Program.  Although this amount may not been viewed as substantial, the efforts that Ms. Steinmetz put forth had a greater impact on the students, the community, and she should be recognized for her contributions.

Ms. Steinmetz certainly is deserving of an award that recognizes her ability to go “Above and Beyond.”  She was honored with flowers and acknowledged by Bobbie Beriont, SBA at Kingwood School District and President of Hunterdon Warren ASBO.

The HCESC partners with sending school districts to provide “shared services.” These “shared services” enable school districts to achieve their goals in a cost-effective manner, benefiting the sending district along with the local taxpayer.  Education, Transportation, Technology, and Cooperative Purchasing comprise the four core services and are offered either individually or as a package based on the unique needs of the sending districts.  The HCESC has no tax base and receives no state aid for its operations. Its income is derived primarily from fees for services with a small amount raised from various grants.
