On Saturday,
December 5, Santa will make a special stop to
visit all of the good little boys and girls in
Lambertville. The visit will begin 4 p.m. with
the lighting of a 20-foot tree located in the
new City Square at the corner of South Union and
Bridge streets. Children will lead a countdown
to the appointed time when a magic switch will
be pushed illuminating the tree lights and
heralding Santa's arrival in the Union Fire
Company's classic fire truck, "Old Nellie,"
surrounded by all his helpers.
Following the
lighting, Santa will lead everyone to the Acme
Screening Room (25 S. Union St.) for cocoa,
cookies and a visit with the kids.
Afterwards,
families are encouraged to return at 7 p.m. for
a screening of The Polar Express, in 3-D,
sponsored by Friends of Lambertville Library’s
ACME Screening Room film program. The screening
is free and each audience member will be given a
pair of complimentary 3-D glasses to wear during
the film to see its spectacular effects.
The Polar Express
is a magical holiday tale that tells of a young
boy who still wants to believe in Santa even
though his friends have “grown out of it.” His
faith is rewarded when a steam train pulls up to
his house and escorts him to the North Pole to
meet Santa. The cutting-edge “motion capture
process” used to film this story allows real
life actors to drive the emotions and movements
of animated characters. Rated G; 99 minutes;
2004. For more information call Cindy Ege at 609
