TITLE: Lautenberg Announces More Than $1 Million In Federal Funding To Improve Local Airports

Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) today announced more than $1 million in federal funding awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to three local airports.  The funds will help pay for runway and road improvements and airport expansion and protect traveler safety.
   
    “We need to make New Jersey’s airports safe, modern and reliable so travelers get to their destinations safely—and on time,” Sen. Lautenberg said. “With these funds, we can continue to improve our airports to meet our region’s future travel and public safety demands.”
 
    The $1,337,198 in funding will be allocated as follows:
 

• $80,750 to the South Jersey Regional Airport in Mount Holly to improve airport drainage

• $431,830 to the Hammonton Municipal Airport in Hammonton for road improvements, runway rehabilitation and to install a new perimeter fence

• $824,618 to the East Apron at Essex County Airport in Caldwell to expand the airport to accommodate increased demand
