Sometimes it's hard to describe why a movie grabs you, it just does, and Dan in real life is one of those.
Steve Carell of the 40 year old virgin fame, is a great sympathetic loser type character who lends a sense of the believable/ unbelievable to the role. Juliette Binoche is easy to watch with an exuberance that is both childlike and smart. John Mahoney of the Fraiser show is a nice addition alongside Dianne Weist.
This is a family film, a love story, a comedy. With little fanfare this short 99 minutes, film, just works. It's not the Godfather or Jaws, but sometimes a little simple entertainment without using too many cells is pleasant.
