TITLE: Readington Third Graders Study Quilts
DESCRIPTION:
Time: 09:10:31
Mrs. McGibbon’s third grade students at Three Bridges School in Readington Township have been learning about the Underground Railroad. The students have been focusing on the different methods of navigation and communication used by the escaping slaves. Students were thrilled to have the opportunity to study some quilts generously lent to the school by the Courthouse Quilters of Frenchtown. The quilters have made a series of quilts to correspond to children’s books, such as Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt. Third grade students are now facing the challenge of creating a quilt of their own which depicts a hidden map, in addition to classic quilt patterns such as the Log Cabin, the Bear’s Paw and Bow Tie. Thank you to the Courthouse Quilters for bringing history to life!
