TITLE: Some Cl Twp Residents Balk at Gypsy moth spraying
DESCRIPTION:
Time: 08:54:17

ARTICLE

The Department of Agriculture has reduced the spray zone for gypsy moth suppression from 282 to 246 acres in the Township of Clinton. The elimination of 36 acres in the spray zone is due to several residents declining to be sprayed. One resident on Welsh Road, one resident on Concord Road, and three residents on Rosemary Lane have declined spraying. Since the Department of Agriculture staff are currently in the field managing the Gypsy Moth Suppression Program, the Township of Clinton cannot acquire a revised map of the spray area.

The following explanation was provided via email from the Department of Agriculture:

“[We] took the eastern section out from Welsh Road down Rosemary Lane to the area (buffer) parallel to Deer Hill Road and the southern section of Concord Road out to 78.”

Based on this explanation, the Township expects that spraying will not be done on several properties on Welsh Road, Glory Road, Edson Terrace, and Concord Road as well as all of the properties on Rosemary Lane. The Township will reimburse residents who provided a donation to the gypsy moth suppression program and whose properties are now excluded from spraying

This schedule is weather dependent and may change on short notice. If you did NOT receive a notification through the U.S. Mail, you are NOT in the spray area. Additionally, as noted above, properties in 36 acres of the original spray area will NOT be sprayed.  Residents throughout the Township who have requested notification via phone will be contacted to confirm the date of spraying, as will the school districts and the Clinton Township schools.
