The statement there is something for everyone truly applies to Marriot St Kitts. This new four star resort was constructed in the past five years and offers you the ability to host a convention, take a family, or simply enjoy a romantic get away next to the sea. Beautiful St Kitts is a destination point any time of the year. With the trade winds blowing all summer long, it is still a place you can go to get away from the dog days of the north east and in the winter, well how does 83 and sunny every day sound in January. The Caribbean is placid and a great spot for snorkeling, while the Atlantic has enough waves to body surf. the St Kitts Marriot is by far the newest accommodation on the island. Lets take a tour around the Marriot community.

Arriving at the airport the Marriot has enormous stretch suv limo to take you to your destination in air conditioned comfort, which you will appreciate as the st kitts weather always seems perfect but you will notice the heat blast as you exit the plane and walk across the tarmac, a nice flow of AC is a welcome way to start your journey.

As opposed to many resorts which require rides of more than an hour from the airport the Marriot is just over the hill into the beautiful Frigate Bay area. It will take you about 8 minutes to arrive at the front door where the attentive staff will take your bags and make check in a snap. There was a nice touch in the check in area, cold water soaking in different flavors of fruits, which puts a refreshing taste on the tongue.

Our room was well appointed with all of the things you don’t want to bring in your baggage to put it over the 50 pound limit. Blow dryers, clothing iron and ironing board, coffee maker, safe for your valuables, bathrobes etc…. The rooms are all hard wired for internet service which allowed the HC NEWS to keep flowing during the entirety of the trip. The beds were comfy and the ocean view off the back balconies is spectacular allowing you to nod off to the sound of the crashing waves.

For the work out junkies there is a full gym loaded with treadmills, weight machines etc… If you want to get a good sweat on you will have no problem here.

There are also a variety of classes going on all day and by far the most popular was the water aerobics featuring a joyous teacher who had the music pumping and the participants laughing.

For the party people there are plenty of opportunities to grab a mug of rum and a smile. The bar off of the lobby has a nice elegance to it

and for those wanting to grab sun while imbibing the swim up pool bar always seemed to be full.

With the possibility of getting a bit too much sun and perhaps beverage it’s important to start your day out with a nutritious full belly. The buffet was excellent, made to order omelets complete with shrimp and lobster were a delight. Pancakes to order, lots and lots of fruits, cereals and bacon offered something for everyone to snack on, and the coffee bar was perfect for those who feel caffeine fits into vacation mode.

The beach is also close by, right out past the pool. They built their own reef to provide shelter for the kids form the Atlantic but for those who want to thrash around in bigger seas all you have to do take a three minute walk to the north and you could do some serious body surfing. There are plenty of umbrellas to sit under for shade. The kids have all sorts of games in the water to participate in, including a large floating raft that looked fun to bounce around on. And yes there is beverage service on the beach, cold showers when you get out to rinse off the sand, and loads of outdoor snacking shacks that have pizza burgers etc…

For dinner there are multiple choices within the hotel including the Royal Grille Steakhouse where you can dive into a large t-bone , La Cucina if you favor a bit of past, and the Blu Seafood Restaurant specializing in the catch of the day.

The other nice thing about Marriot St Kitts is location, location, location. If you are a golfer it’s right in front of you – see hc news review - A short walk, lets say ten minutes, puts you on the frigate bay beach which is loaded with rum shanty’s, diving, and jet ski rentals. On Thursday nights Mr X puts on quite a show with a gent named fire man, a funny rendition of fire eating and limbo.

For those of you who like to do a bit of wagering the Marriot Casino allows you to participate in everything from black jack, roulette, poker and sports betting. The tables usually open sometime mid afternoon and go late into the night.

For cigar aficionados the Marriot also allows an escape above the lobby called the Key Cigar and Rum Bar where you can sit smoking a stogie while watching the ocean view during a game of backgammon. This is a nice escape for many.
