Jason R. Claytor was born on July 14, 1984.

A 2003 graduate from North Hunterdon High School, Jason was involved in Interact & ABLE, Special Olympics and Relay for Life.  Upon graduation, Jason enrolled at William Paterson University where he was double majoring in Psychology and Sociology, with a concentration in Criminal Justice.  During his last two years at William Paterson, Jason was in high academic standing, making the Dean’s List both semesters. Five classes short of graduating, Jason was forced to take a medical hiatus from school during the fall 2007 semester. He is now attempting to finish his classes and hopes to graduate this spring.

At William Paterson University, Jason is a brother of Alpha Phi Delta fraternity.  Through his fraternity, Jason participates in many community service activities to support both the school and global community.  In addition to school, Jason also served as a Special Police Officer for the Hackensack Police Department.

This past year Jason proposed to his long time girlfriend, Natalia Castrillo, a sister of Theta Phi Alpha sorority and graduate of William Paterson University.  They were married on June 25th, 2007.  Jason and Natalia currently live in Paterson, NJ.

This past summer, Jason began feeling severe

pains in his abdomen and was rushed to the

hospital.  After many grueling tests and several

days of waiting, Jason was diagnosed with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma, a rare

form of liver cancer.  By the time of his diagnosis,

the cancer had formed a large tumor in Jason’s

liver and began metastasizing.

Jason is currently undergoing an experimental
form of chemotherapy in order to combat the disease.  Jason and his family had high hopes to

see a specialist familiar with his type of cancer,

but unfortunately his health insurance policy

would not cover the visit and they cannot afford

to pay for it themselves.  This was quite a devastating blow to Jason: knowing someone

could potentially help him and maybe save his

life, but because of financial constraints, he was unable to been seen.

A newlywed at 23 years old, Jason is battling for
his life- a life that has truly just begun

Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma is an uncommon malignant neoplasm of the liver. Fibrolamellar carcinoma has distinctive clinical, histologic, and radiographic features that
distinguish it from the relatively more common Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Compared
with HCC, Fibrolamellar carcinoma occurs in
a younger population.

Fibrolamellar carcinoma is an aggressive
tumor that progresses to recurrent liver masses
and metastatic lymph node metastases in most patients.
