TITLE: HC NEWS NEW FEATURE - Destination reviews - join us from the wonderful isle of St Kitts - article three START YOUR DAY THE BALLAHOO WAY (pictures)
One thing is clear down here – ITS HOT – this is not a Florida destination point where you can get those lousy rainy 60 degree days. St Kitts is two and a half hours south of Miami by plane and it is creeping ever so close to the equator that you always have weather in the 80’s and when the wind isn’t blowing you know it.
Why is this important – It’s because it sneaks up on you, especially if you have been in the cold north for a long winter, and lets face it, when most folks go on vacation they tend to overindulge in everything from athletics, the beach, the sun and sometimes a few too many rum punch’s, they don’t call them PUNCH for nothing down here.
Your best protection against that woozy feeling in the early afternoon is a great breakfast and on St Kitts there is one place to get this – Ballahoo – For many reasons.
The first – The breakfast is flat out great. If you get scrambled eggs, toast, a side of ham that comes with the breakfast and the islands variation of home fries which is a plentiful bit of potatoes and a few pots of brewed tee with brown sugar, you are off and ready to go for the entire morning at full speed.
The second reason is that this is a local hot spot of activity which is just fun as hell to watch. Ballahoo sits atop the main circle square and the bevy of activity going by is something you imagine seeing in a movie. From up above you can people watch to your hearts delight, get a good lay of the lands, and enjoy the nice breeze which your elevated viewpoint gives you.
We are not recommending this spot for dinner, our Mahi was pedestrian at best on night number one, but for breakfast this is a way to keep your pocket book in check, your belly full, and your outlook smiling. You will not be disappointed.
