Hunterdon County - On a semi sick day with sore throat and a two degree fever the afghan provided protection from the chill and the eyes went searching for something to occupy down time. Rolling through a myriad of frustration on demand with poor choices to the left and right, the pointer came to nights in Rodanthe, a Richard Gear - Dianne Lane effort.

Both of these two have put up some pretty good romantic flicks, let's just say Pretty Woman and Under the Tuscan sun and leave it at that. Adapted from a Nick Sparks novel, this romance is set on the eve of a Hurricane in the village of Rodanthe, which is about 20 miles north of Hatteras in the outer banks.

Its obvious Gere has some inner turmoil and that there are marital problems for Lane.

The problem is the entire romance is too obvious, to staged and sadly  the two don't click, not because they are lazy actors, they just don't generate the juice that is more times than not a happy accident rather than effort being put forth by the actors.

If it comes on HBO, maybe give it a whirl, but don't go to far out of your way.
