Join us as Kevin Richardson, the Hunterdon County Program Administrator/County Open Space
Coordinator discusses Hunterdon’s land acquisition programs. He will cover the Hunterdon County
Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Plan; and discuss the plan’s overall goals
and objectives as well as the current status of the County’s open space preservation initiatives and
role. Kevin will also cover the Municipal and Nonprofit Grant Programs, which provides funds
allocated from the County Open Space Trust to assist local preservation initiatives, and the role of the
County Open Space Advisory Committee.
Mr. Richardson has been with Hunterdon since 2000; before that, Kevin worked for the NJDEP
Green Acres Program administering the state Green Acres Local Assistance Program and federal
Land and Water Conservation Fund; Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Program and Section 502
of the Pinelands Protection Act throughout the state. Kevin’s work included many projects in
Hunterdon County undertaken by the former Board of Recreation Commissioners, many of the
county’s municipalities as well as several nonprofit organizations. As such Kevin has been involved
with open space land preservation including park and recreation issues for 22 years and has extensive
knowledge about Hunterdon County’s past and present open space preservation initiatives and
experience with the many people involved with preserving Hunterdon County’s rural character and
preserving its cultural, historic and natural resources.
The Hunterdon County Green Table was organized in 2001 by the South Branch Watershed
Association, Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance, NJ Department of Environmental Protection Green
Acres Program, and Hunterdon County Park System to create a forum for land conservation
leaders in Hunterdon County. The Green Table is designed to enhance land conservation projects
by improving communication among organizations, promoting partnerships, identifying
resources, and broadening awareness of conservation efforts throughout the county’s
environmental community.
