On Saturday, August 16, at approximately 1:00 pm, Special Officer Sean Ross responded to a township residence for a report of a violation of a final restraining order. Upon arrival, SPO Ross was advised by a thirty-one (31) year-old Highland Lakes woman that she knew that her thirty-one (31) year-old ex-husband, of River Edge, had a restraining order against her and that the order had been in effect for approximately two (2) years. The ex-husband and the couple’s juvenile son had apparently been staying at the ex-husband’s aunt’s house in Clinton Township. The woman continued to advise that, although she had traveled to Clinton Township and repeatedly called her ex-husband, she felt that she had not violated the order because she had parked two houses away and had only left messages on her ex-husband’s cell phone. The ex-husband allowed police to listen to the messages left on his cell phone by his ex-wife moments earlier. Upon listening to the messages, officers were able to hear the woman say “I can see you,” “I found you,” and “I am going to have you arrested.” In all, the woman left fifteen (15) messages on her ex-husband’s cell phone over the last four days. As a result, SPO Ross arrested the woman and charged her with Violation of a Final Restraining Order (Contempt), Stalking, and Harassment. Judge Eric Perkins of the Clinton Township Municipal Court set bail at $5,000.xx. When she was unable to post bail, the woman was taken to the Hunterdon Medical Center after complaining of breathing difficulty.
