TITLE: CULTURAL GRANTS APPLICATION DEADLINE NEARS SEPTEMBER 29
DESCRIPTION:
Time: 09:45:06
Applications for the Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission’s Special Projects Grant are available to request 2009 support. Funded by the county, the purpose of this grant is to “promote public interest in local and county history, in the arts and in the cultural values, goals and traditions of the community.”
Special Projects applications are judged largely on the significance, originality and cultural merit of the program or project, the prospect for public use or benefit, and on financial need. Projects and programs should take place between October 2008 and December 2009.
For 2008, all 30 applicants were approved to receive awards totaling $64,800. As an example of the diverse scope of the approved applications, awards were made for historic building, grounds, and graveyard restorations; a poetry festival; the Hunterdon County Teen Arts program; indexing and preservation of historical items and documents; oral history; historical exhibitions and museum education programs; documentation of early farmsteads; and for musical, visual and performing arts education and performances, exhibitions and festivals.
Guidelines and applications are currently available at the Hunterdon County Main Library on Route 12 and the Commission office, located at 3 Chorister Place, Flemington, and on-line at <www.co.hunterdon.nj.us/depts/c&h>. New applicants are encouraged to call the Commission to discuss their ideas and are offered individualized help with the application process. The deadline to apply is 3 p.m. Monday, September 29. Call the Commission office (908-788-1256) for further information, to request an application form, or to schedule an appointment for individual guidance.
