A patriotic display of red, white and blue will  display a flourish at The Club at Morgan Hill when the golf course hosts Patriot Golf Days Labor Day weekend, Friday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 1.

Morgan Hill will match $1.00 per player that participates in the event to support spouses and dependents of service members who were either killed or disabled. Donations given by golfers and Morgan Hill over the weekend supports a nation-wide effort, according to general manager David Karner.

Patriot Golf Day, supported by the United States Golf Association and the Professional Golfers Association of America, encourages golfers nationwide to donate a minimum of $1 in support of the Folds of Honor Foundation. The foundation provides educational scholarships for families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty.

  The program began with USGA and PGA member Dan Rooney, who served two tours of duty in Iraq and is currently serving another one. Major Rooney, the founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation, was determined to find a way to help these families through the power of golfers.

In 2007, more than 3,250 golf facilities nationwide participated in Patriot Golf Day and raised in excess of $1 million, which was distributed among 2,000 families.  This year, the goal is to expand the number of participating facilities and exceed the overall contribution to the Foundation.
